Happy New Year everyone! Hope you all had fun during the holidays too! I chose to stay in during New Years since I already celebrated the prior weekend to avoid the crazy crowds and madness! Overall, I’ve been catching up with old friends and family during the month of December! So every weekend was always packed and eventful. 2018 was a year of ups and downs for myself, but I’ve definitely emerged a lot stronger than ever!

It took me until I was 24 to understand that self-love is the biggest form of respect that I can have for myself after all these years of neglect and wanting to feel validated through an intimate relationship with a significant other. I realized that the love that we’ve all been looking for in life is yourself and sometimes people go through this life not seeing that it was within themselves the entire time.

I took a year off from dating and started to focus on my goals, mental health, and started to reassess what I wanted to do going forward with my career. I’m not gonna lie and say that everything was easy after leaving my old job at Saks Fifth since I started to go into this weird downward spiral with my self-worth and confidence.

After graduating in May, then came reality… Post-grad life blues are so real and I had these uncomfortable moments of doubt and thoughts of “what am I suppose to do now”? Getting turned down and rejected by multiple companies on a weekly basis started to dampen my mood and I started to question myself. Am I not qualified or good enough? Why can’t they see my value? I guess I must not be competent enough? Afterwards, I had to remind myself that just because someone can’t see your worth doesn’t mean that you’re anything less. Chin up and push through that hurdle of doubt and uncertainty!

Fast forward to today at Blue Bottle and I can honestly say that I’m super happy with the change that I made in my career. I feel really great working for a company that not only cares about sustainability within the environment but also within their people. People are their culture and I’ve learned so much within the past month since working here! There was so much to coffee that I didn’t know about and I get excited waking up going to work! I can’t wait to see what happens with my future at Blue Bottle and I hope everyone else has a great start to their year as well!
