HOW I OVERCAME MY CREATIVE BLOCK

I'm starting to get back into wearing more yellow this season! I was obsessed with yellow a few years back and stopped wearing brighter colors due to my last job. We had a strict black, white, and grey dress code policy, and I felt like it restricted my individuality when it came to putting together outfits. Even as a manager, I felt that it restricted much more than what color I was allowed to wear, but my overall confidence.

Honestly, that last job put me in a creative rut since I felt uninspired, unmotivated, and lacked the drive to really do anything fashion related. I woke up each morning unhappy, and didn't put much thought into how I looked since it was the same old outfit every day. When I realized that I stopped caring about my job I knew that I had to make a change in my career.

I finally decided that it was time to leave in March, which was honestly one of the best decisions that I've made for myself. I launched Back Tu Basic shortly after, and I'm so happy that I'm finally working on projects that are so meaningful to me.

One big lesson that I took away was that I should always use my fears as an enabler to push myself towards my goals! I've realized that my mood is reflected in my outfits so when I'm feeling upbeat, and happy I tend to gravitate towards brighter colors which puts me in a great mood. I was always wearing black, white, and grey so I definitely felt more somber and down.  Color definitely makes a big impact on how I feel everyday!
